Drop Shipments

  • Drop ship items have a Line Type of ‘D’.
    • The order must have a contact name and phone number.
      • This is added or edited when choosing the correct Bill-to, Ship-to, contact combination.
    • D line types will highlight in green when first keyed.
  • Select the drop ship line and click the Binocular Button.
    • The system will provide the Promised Ship date based on the lead time for the item.
    • Exception to this rule: Perishable drop ship items
    • Tab off the line so the dates can populate.
  • If the account/contact you selected doesn’t have a name and phone number:
    • You must contact the customer for this information and add in detail attachment.
    • Other detail attachments include:
      • Lift gate needed and or inside delivery
      • Customer’s FedEx or UPS acct number, if one is provided.
      • Payable after July 1st orders – “Do Not Ship Early”
  • Please add the detail attachment to the line before submitting the order or releasing from QO hold.
  • Drop ship lines do not have to be cancelled if you need to change the date.
  • Up-Front Freight will calculate freight on a drop ship line:
    • The system will calculate 7.5% of the price of the drop ship line item.
    • EX – item 705072 for $147.40 (7.5% would be $11.06).
    • Exception to this rule: Perishable drop ship items. There is a flat shipping rate of $40 per ship date.
  • Once the order is submitted, the system will create a Purchase Order for our purchasing department.
    • The PO will be sent to the vendor for fulfillment.
    • The item will ship to the customer directly from the vendor.
