Prepacked Preserved Items

➢ The goal is for the department to prepack (bag and seal) items to place on the shelf so they are ready to go before orders are printed instead of bagging and sealing them after the orders are printed.

➢ The department uses a standard count for the bulk bag items based on the quantity that can best fit in each bag without jeopardizing the quality or look of the specimens.

o For example, the sheep brains are bulk bagged in bags of 10, but the customer can still order 14 sheep brains. Instead of bagging all 14 brains in 1 bulk bag, we have built “single bulk” specimens with the bulk bag item numbers. For the customer that orders 14 sheep brains, they will receive a bag of 10 brains and 4 single packed brains in their box.

➢ Here are some label descriptions along with visual aids to help explain what the customer can see in their boxes.

o 1 Per Bag Label – The label that goes on any of the items that are packaged 1 Per Bag (example: 228704 PS Sheep Brain Plain 1 Per Bag)

o Bulk Bag & Single Bulk – The way a customer would receive their order if they were to order 14 of item number 228705 (qty 14 of 228705 PS Sheep Brain Plain Bulk Bag)

o Bulk Bag Label – The label that goes on any of the items that are packaged Bulk Bag (example: 228705 PS Sheep Brain Plain Bulk Bag). The label will have the quantity of specimens that are in the bag. This item has a standard count of 10 per bag.

o Single Bulk Label – The label that goes on any of the items that are packaged Bulk Bag (example: 228705 PS Sheep Brain Plain Bulk Bag). The label will have the quantity of specimens that are in the bag. The item in the picture is the single bulk specimen for the quantities that are outside of the standard count (Ex: 11 sheep brains, they would receive 1 bulk bag of 10 and 1 of these single bulk)

➢ If the customer requests special packaging of bulk bagged specimens, please inform the customer of how we normally package them to see if that meets their needs.

o If the customer insists that items be packed a certain way, please let Peter Parker at ext 6210, or Brandice Robinson at ext 4444 know and add a detail attachment (first text box) so it prints on the packing slip.
