Student work and progress is not saved in Gateway after the student goes through the process to SUBMIT in Gateway or the assignment has been closed by the instructor.

Either of these scenarios results in the student’s lab manual and notebook opening in a “read only” state, meaning their work is no longer saved in our system. They can access and interact with the Pre-lab questions and Lab Notebook, but their work is not saved in our system. When students open the lab in this state they see the following warning:

You can observe if a student has submitted an assignment by using the instructor view for that assignment, look in the SUBMITTED column.

Students can get help on properly using Gateway, saving and submitting their work in the Gateway STUDENT User Guide

If you have determined that students have submitted, but you want students to have the opportunity to save their work again in Gateway you can CLOSE the assignment and then immediately REOPEN it. These actions are for the whole class, they cannot be done on an individual basis. However, all prior saved work is retained in Gateway.
