Special Information for Microbiology Courses

Live Card Vouchers

Some of your Microbiology Labs may require you to redeem a Live Card, also called a Living Card or Live Voucher to receive additional cultures which cannot be shipped as part of your initial kit purchase. The most common lab using a Live Card is for Biochemical Tests in Microbiology investigation which includes a Live Card for the Pseudomonas fluorescens culture. You will need to redeem their voucher code at least two weeks before you plan to begin the Biochemical Tests lab. Ordering in advance helps ensure the culture arrives on time and that you are prepared to complete the investigation as scheduled. Refrigeration

Some materials inside of your kit need to be stored in the refrigerator until you are ready to use them. This includes most of your media and some components within your lab kit. These items are labeled on the packaging and on your packing list as needing refrigeration. Make sure to keep media plates within their plastic sleeve and tubes within their box when storing them in the refrigerator.
