How do I connect Gateway to Moodle with a LTI Connection?

If your administrator has configured Carolina Science Online as an external learning tool in Moodle, follow the instructions for Adding an LTI link to a content area. If your administrator has not set up the external learning tool, then follow the instructions titled setting up a New External Tool and LTI connection. 

Adding an LTI Link for an Existing External Tool: 

• Select the content area where you would like to place the assignment/LTI link and click Add an activity or resource. 
• On the pop-up, select the External Tool that your administrator set up. It will be called something like Carolina Science Online. 

• You should see a screen which is titled “Adding a new External Tool to [Lesson Name]” 
• Under General, give the activity a name. 
• Make sure that under pre-configured tool, Automatic, based on URL is selected. 
• Enter the Tool URL for the specific lab activity you wish to add from the information provided by Carolina. 

Adding a new external tool: 

• Select the content area where you would like to place the assignment/LTI link and click Add an activity or resource. 
• On the pop-up, select External Tool. 
• Under General, give the activity a name. 
• Make sure that under pre-configured tool, Automatic, based on URL is selected. 
• Enter the Tool URL for the specific lab activity you wish to add from the information provided by Carolina.  

• Click the Show More button under the Activity Name box. This will allow you to put in the Consumer Key and Shared Secret provided by Carolina. Leave all other fields blank or with the default settings.

• If you wish to have grades imported from CSO, click on privacy and check the box for Accept grades from the tool. You can then assign points and categorize your assignment according to your preferences. No other fields need to be filled out. 
• You will need to repeat this process for each resource you wish to add.
