How do I Configure Carolina Science Online as an External Learning Tool in Moodle?
Before implementing Gateway LTI Links, Carolina Science Online (CSO) should be added to your LMS environment as a LTI Tool Provider/External Learning Tool Provider. This one-time step requires administrator access. Once the tool provider has been set up, course instructors can add LTI links to their courses without needing special admin permissions.
- Log in to Moodle using your admin account.
- Go to Manage pre-configured tools and click Add pre-configured tool. This should open external tool configuration and allow you to change the tool and privacy settings.
- Set up the tool.
- Give the tool a recognizable name such as Carolina Science Online or Carolina Online Gateway.
- For the Tool URL, enter https://carolinascienceonline.com.
- Enter the Consumer Key provided by Carolina.
- If you cannot locate your key, contact our support team at distancelearning@carolina.com for assistance
- Enter the Shared Secret provided by Carolina.
- If you cannot locate your secret, contact our support team at distancelearning@carolina.com for assistance.
- Leave the Custom Parameters field blank.
- For the tool configuration usage, select “Show in activity chooser” and select option to make a pre-configured tool.
- Leave the other Tool settings in their default configuration or blank.
- For Privacy settings, select the following:
- Share launcher's name with tool: Always.
- Share launcher's email with tool: Always.
- Accept grades from the tool: Delegate to teacher.
- Force SSL: enable by checking the box.
